I need an answer. Breast feeding moms.
« on: October 06, 2013, 01:46:46 pm »
Okay, so carter keeps throwing up after she eats and it makes her tummy hurt. Is there something wrong with my milk if this happens? Am I letting her eat for too long? I just need some answers because she's constantly crying.

She may be eating too long, try 15 minutes on each breast. She also may be lactose intolerant. So dont eat cheese or drink milk for a few days and see if that helps. Make sure to burp her after each breast cuz that can cause her to spit up if she has air in her tummy.

Cool i hope that helps, my baby girl wasnt taking all the milk from my breasts during feedings so now i have to pump which is a bummer. Be really happy that your giving ur baby girl the best milk she can get :) my baby gets a lot of gas from my milk so im almost debating on giving her formula eventually. Also if she is crying all the time try to feed her more frequently, babies go thru growth spurts every few weeks and need more nourishment during those times.

That happened to me when I drank a glass of milk before a feeding. She threw up after and was pulling away from my breast and crying. I felt so bad. Since then I haven't touched any milk!

It could be possible she suffers from reflux. If that is the case, i believe keeping her upright for 20 mins after a feed can help but I would google it for more info

Like she eats, and after she eats about 5 minutes later, she pukes it all back up, and then cries cause she's hungry again.

Maybe you should talk to your doctor, my son when it was a baby had milk allergy, we had to give him a special formula. He was throwing up all the time. I was eating eggs, until now my son is still allergic to eggs.

I think she may just be eating too much.

That sounds like reflux to me. Both my girls had reflux. Take her to the doctor to get checked out. Hope she's feeling better soon.

Sounds like reflux! Make sure to keep her upright after a feeding and when she sleeps it's best to keep her sat up instead of laying her down.. Put a pillow behind her if you do need to lay her down. Reflux burns severely and that's most likely why she is crying :( id go to the dr ASAP.. They'll most likely change her to a formula that will help the reflux. Good luck you are doing such a good job!!

Have you spoken to a lactation consultant? They might be able to help as well and then you may be able to continue breast feeding.
