Paying for dates
« on: October 21, 2018, 11:11:21 PM »
So my boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. We see each other about once a week (every fridays) and he lives about an hour 1/2 away but at times with traffic, it can take up to two hours. He spends about $30 on gas before he sees me and I guess once he gets back home. When he’s here, I’m ALWAYS paying for the bill and dates. He does have bills to pay like phone/car insurance. But I just feel a bit burden and sometimes I also Venmo him money so he can eat when there’s no food at his house... is it okay to feel like this

It’s okay to feel like this. It’s not okay that it’s happening.

He’s paying for the gas, I presume? How much are you spending when you’re together then?

If you’re in a strong and healthy relationship, definitely bring up the issue to him. There needs to be a balance in any relationship, and that includes monetary expenses too. Communication is key.

Also, it’s okay to help him out when he needs it, but it’s bad if he’s clearly depending on you to feed him. You’re not his babysitter or mother, you’re his partner.
